Seattle Sports Teams

Seattle is typically recognized for some of the dynamic cultural attractions that are found there. However, what many people overlook, that is until their home team comes face to face with one of Seattle’s, is that the city also has some incredible professional sports teams. The Seattle Mariners , Supersonics and the Seahawks and Thunderbirds are all teams that are based in Seattle and are prominent in their leagues. And while the guests in some of the Seattle luxury hotels might have their preferred home team favorites, they are typically more than happy to attend a game at Safeco Field or Key Arena.

The Mariners are an MLB team and were established in 1977. Some of the great players that have played with the team include Randy Johnson and Ken Griffey. The Supersonics are the city’s NBA team and were officially founded in 1967. They are part of the Western Conference’s Southwest Division. The Seahawks are an NFL team that was established in Seattle in 1976. They were in the Super Bowl in 2005 and one of their claims to fame is that they never wear their white jerseys during home games. The Thunderbirds round out this list of professional teams and are the NHL representatives. They were established in 1971 and were originally called the Seattle Breakers. They were renamed the Thunderbirds in 1985.
